Rob Watson, aka Rob-ot began his love of electronic beats with Depeche Mode and Front 242 in the early 90s as a teenager growing up in Oakland CA. Like many others, he first heard Goa trance in 97 and was completely floored. As a professional classical guitarist and music teacher the complexity and the depth of psy/goa trance immediately attracted him. In 2000 Rob bought his first turnables and began playing out at underground psy parties in San Francisco with the Phoenix Family. He had been making tracks using “tracker programs” for fun since ’95, but it wasn’t until 2001 that he teamed up with Random and began to learn Logic.
Rob currently produces progressive psy-trance with Jay Indigom under the name M-Field on the East Coast (Connecticut), with an album forthcoming on PsyBooty records (San Francisco). Rob still collaborates with Random as RandomRobot and with Chromatone (the latter are joining forces soon for a new depth in the Morphonix sound). As a DJ he has recently performed at the Love Fest in San Francisco on the Tantra Float to an enthusiastic audience of thousands.
